Wi-Fi-Based Devices

Use Case: Environments with existing Wi-Fi infrastructure (homes, offices, commercial buildings).
Key Features:
Connectivity Range: Limited by Wi-Fi signal strength; ideally stronger than -80 dBm
Signal Tip: Wi-Fi strength can be estimated using a smartphone—2 or more bars indicates suitable signal for stable operation.
Maximum Number of Devices: up to 200 devices (depends on the Wi-Fi router’s available DHCP IP address pool and its ability to handle multiple simultaneous connections).

LoRa-Based Devices

Use Case: Ideal for environments with existing industrial or building infrastructure, especially where Wi-Fi or Ethernet is unavailable or unreliable. LoRa is well-suited for long-range, low-power applications such as environmental monitoring, asset tracking, or remote telemetry.
Key Features:
Connectivity Range: Up to 10 km in open-space, line-of-sight conditions (no forest or buildings). Actual range depends on radio signal strength, interference, terrain, and the height of the gateway antenna (higher placement is better).
Device Capacity: Supports up to 2,000 nodes per network (depends on node activity rate and gateway performance).
Gateway Requirement: At least 1 LoRa gateway is required to collect data from nodes and forward it to the internet (cloud server or local infrastructure).
SyncMaster (Time Coordinator): A specialized device that synchronizes transmission timing across all nodes to reduce signal collisions and optimize airtime usage.
Sensors: DS18B20 (temperature), DHT11/DHT22 (temperature & humidity), BME280 (temperature, humidity, pressure)
Power Supply Options:
- 5V DC / 12V DC
- 3.7V Li-ion or LiPo battery
- Standard 3V battery for ultra-low-power nodes
